Who are we
ELBAZGILDEMONTES is a lighting design studio co-founded by Lara Elbaz and María Gildemontes and formed by a multidisciplinary team.
We develop our practice in both national and international projects of different typologies and scales: landscape, heritage, urban, residential, retail, contract and exhibition spaces among others. We recognize the profound impact of light on our lives and surroundings. For this reason, we place great importance on integrating architecture, emotions, and both human and environmental well-being into our lighting projects. Combined with solid technical expertise, this approach allows us to create holistic and inspiring environments that enhance people’s quality of life. Ecological awareness plays a central role in our practice. It has guided us in developing a methodology that integrates strategies for creating responsible lighting projects, designed to minimize their environmental impact |
The team

LARA ELBAZ began her career as a lighting designer more than twenty-five years ago. In her early days she worked for a prestigious Spanish lighting consultancy, where she specialised in urban, landscape and contract lighting. In 2008 she founded her studio LARA ELBAZ Lighting Design, which has allowed her to work nationally and internationally on different typology and scale projects, highlighting urban heritage, hospitality and residential lighting projects among others.
She combines her professional activity with an intense educational activity, participating in international workshops and conferences and teaching Lighting Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED Madrid) where she has directed the Lighting Design Master course from 2010 to 2020. She also participates in the Lighting Design Master course at the Universidad politécnica de Barcelona (UPC) since 2011. She is a Senior Professional Member of APDI (Spanish Lighting Designers Association). |
MARÍA GILDEMONTES began her career as a lighting designer more than fifteen years ago. At the beginning of her career, she worked for a prestigious lighting design studio where she specialized in heritage and cultural lighting. In 2013 she founded her studio GILDEMONTES which has allowed her to develop her work in a wider range of project typologies and scale, highlighting lighting projects based on sustainability criteria for ecological and sustainable architectural projects.
She has been teaching monographic classes at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid and at the UPC in Barcelona. She is a Senior Professional Member of APDI (Spanish Lighting Designers Association).

Process
We design complete lighting projects, from the conceptual phase to its conclusion. We structure and develop our projects in consecutive phases, the content and scope of which is defined according to the nature of the work and the client's needs

Our way of communicating, documenting and presenting projects follows a structure defined by phases but we always adapt to the nature of the project and the client’s needs to define the content and scope of the work.

The rigour in the communication and documentation of the project guarantees the correct installation and avoids budget deviations.
